Graduating students Sergio Lopez, Bradley Rutledge and 3L Benjamin Arcure represented San Joaquin College of Law with a stellar performance at the statewide 57th Annual Roger J. Traynor California Appellate Moot Court Competition.
Both oral competitors – Mr. Arcure and Mr. Rutledge – earned an Individual Merit Award for Oral Argument, but their success was truly a team effort. They collaborated through every step of the process, from exchanging ideas and cases to offering each other personal support and encouragement. Countless hours of research, writing, strategizing, and advocacy boiled down to two intense rounds before judges on Saturday, March 7, 2026.
Across the board, the judges commended the team’s performance, noting their “solid command of the facts and the law” and “clear responses to difficult questions.” One judge compared them to “seasoned appellate attorneys” while another was “extremely impressed with the quality of the preparation.” We concur: Bradley, Sergio, and Benjamin embody SJCL’s spirit of camaraderie, integrity, and advocacy. SJCL thanks them for their outstanding work and congratulates them on their performance!
