Hon. Pahoua Lor became the first Hmong female to be appointed to the bench in Fresno County. In 2022 she was appointed to the Superior Court bench by Governor Newsome. Prior to her appointment, Judge Lor served as a sole practitioner and part-time immigration attorney. With a childhood that combined the traditional Hmong values of her family with the need to assimilate in the US after immigrating from Laos, Judge Lor strived to preserve her heritage while forging new possibilities for her community. She has been instrumental in bringing a chapter of the Unity Bar to the Central Valley, and serves as a member of several professional and community organizations.
