Dennis Mederos

Class of 1977

Dennis Mederos began his career in the Fresno County Public Defender’s Office. In 1980 he entered private practice in Tulare where he was soon named partner at Soars, Rowson, Horswill & Mederos. Throughout his 45-year legal career he earned the respect of his peers, and often represented fellow attorneys, judges, and politicians. In 2022 Dennis received the TCBA Distinguished Service Award for exemplary service, legal excellence, professionalism, and ethics.

Dennis played a significant role in saving the Tulare District Hospital (now Adventist Hospital) by contributing his legal skills pro bono in a successful campaign to rid the hospital of corruption. Dennis was elected to the Tulare City Council in 2018 and served as Mayor of Tulare for three years. He has served on the Tulare County LAFCO, Citizens Advisory Committee of the San Joaquin Air Pollution Control District, and Mid Kaweah GSA. Other notable recognitions include: 2013 Tulare Man of the Year, the Golden Apple Award from the Association of California School Administrators, and induction into the Tulare Western High School Wall of Fame. Dennis’ practice of law and principles were known by his colleagues to be unmatched.
