
Madera Mother of Four Earns Law Degree

Cheri Wortham of Madera will graduate Saturday from the San Joaquin College of Law (SJCL) with a Doctor in Law degree. And it wasn’t easy.

After many years and raising a family, Madera native Cheri Wortham will graduate from the San Joaquin College of Law with a Doctor in Law degree at ceremonies Saturday in the William Saroyan Theatre.
A hardworking and caring mother, Wortham has four children and is expecting twins in November.
Wortham was born in Madera and graduated from Madera High in 1993. She earned psychology degrees from both Reedley College and California State University, Fresno, graduating in 2001. She is also certified in alcohol and drug studies and victim services. She is a member of Alpha Gamma Sigma Honors Society.
Not finished with her education, in 2005 she graduated from Fresno State with honors and a master’s degree in rehabilitation counseling.
During her studies at SJCL, Wortham became a member of the Law Review by writing a comment for the Agricultural Law Journal. She was a law review editor from 2008-2010 and is currently serving as a staff member for the SJCL Journal.
Cheri is married to Frankie Wortham. Together, between raising their children, they coach T-ball and keep score for Little League games. They are also active with Big Brothers Big Sisters and the Madera Elks Lodge. They support and participate in fundraisers in the fight against breast cancer, leukemia, and diabetes, and contribute to Children’s Hospital Central California.
Graduation ceremonies will be held at the William Saroyan Theatre in Fresno beginning at 3 p.m. Saturday.
