SJCL Student Nicea Bates discusses her upcoming comment in the San Joaquin Agricultural Law Review on the disproportionate effects of eminent domain on dairy farms, an issue under close scrutiny with proposed high speed rail traffic through the Valley. In particular, Bates points to “mitigation measures” dairy farms must take to lessen impacts on air and water, and how slicing through dairy farmland reduces the ability of such farmers to meet those standards without extra costs.
