Just four months after the unexpected death of San Joaquin College of Law Professor Deanna Martinez last November, over forty SJCL students, members of the community, and friends came together for the first ever Delta Theta Phi Law Fraternity Dodge Ball tournament. Five adult teams and two kid teams raised nearly $2,000 for an educational fund for Martinez’ son, Adrian. DTP would like to extend a special thanks to the family of Keith Teague (1L) for its help with the event. Professor Martinez, 43, taught at SJCL for more than a decade. She was in the process of teaching “The Federal Courts and the Federal System” at the time of her unexpected death. In addition to her teaching duties, she was an Assistant United States Attorney with the Department of Justice. Anyone who would like to contribute to the education fund for her son should contact Christopher Conner, Wells Fargo Advisors, at 559-437-2277.
