Professor Castleton currently serves as a Deputy District Attorney for Merced County, where he prosecutes complex and sensitive criminal cases. He is currently assigned to prosecute sex crimes against children, human trafficking, and homicides. Prior to being a prosecutor, he served as a Deputy Public Defender in Stanislaus County and operated his own practice, focusing on criminal defense and civil litigation.
Since 2021, Professor Castleton has also taught at Merced College as an Adjunct Professor in Criminal Justice and as a California P.O.S.T. Certified Instructor for the Merced College Police Academy.
In addition to his legal practice and teaching experience, he co-founded Jurybox Technologies, a jury-selection software company that grew to serve attorneys across several states before being sold in 2022.
