Professional Responsibility

Professor Burchett is currently a Senior Appellate Court Attorney with California's Fifth District Court of Appeal. Prior to this role, he served for many years as a trial attorney for his home County of Fresno, first as a Deputy District Attorney—where he spent multiple years prosecuting domestic violence and sexual assault cases—and later as a Deputy County Counsel, focusing primarily on civil litigation matters. He was also an adjunct professor of Political Science and Criminology at Reedley and Clovis Community Colleges. Professor Burchett is the founding president of the Central Valley PrideLaw Association.
