The Post-Bar Law Clerk is a full-time remote role responsible for supporting attorneys and paralegals in the firm's various practice areas. Day-to-day tasks include conducting legal research, drafting and revising memoranda, pleadings, contracts, policies, investigative reports, workplace training materials, personnel and other documents under supervision. The position provides hands-on experience in a practice setting while awaiting bar exam results or admission. The firm provides training, and offers access to high-quality, cutting edge research tools including Westlaw and its AI platforms.
Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school and completion of the California bar exam (awaiting results or admission).
- B.A. from an accredited college or university.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Experience with a wide variety of different types of writing highly preferred, e.g., journalistic writing, scientific research papers, preparation of government reports, letters and correspondence, legal briefing style, persuasive and neutral styles.
- Knowledge of AI legal research platforms such as Westlaw's Co-Counsel.
- The ability to work collaboratively in a remote work environment with high degree of self-motivation, self-awareness, and accountability.
- Coachability and the desire to take constructive feedback and implement it for professional development.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines in a remote environment.
- Comfort with legal research platforms and standard office productivity tools; willingness to learn new systems and procedures.
- Ability to work well with diverse communities and stakeholders -- e.g., business owners, government agencies, people of all levels of income, multi-system impacted individuals.
The salary range for this role is $80,000 - $110,000 and represents the Firm’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. Actual compensation will depend on several factors, including but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant experience and qualifications. Benefits include: fully paid medical, dental, and vision insurance for employee and up to two dependents; 401 with safe harbor match; reimbursement of out of pocket medical up to IRS limits; MCLE/bar dues paid by firm; flex time off policy; sick leave; professional development budget; cell phone and internet reimbursement.
