Outgoing District Attorney for Madera County

Michael Keitz has served as the District Attorney for Madera County since January of 2009. A graduate of Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo with an undergraduate degree in Animal Science, Michael initially embarked on a career in banking. With a focus mainly on agricultural lending and management, Michael worked closely with special assets groups and attorneys. He found he liked the legal atmosphere. Michael says he always had an interest in being a prosecutor. He continued with his day job at the bank, serving additionally as a reserve deputy sheriff throughout law school. Michael joined the Madera County District Attorney’s Office after passing the Bar, and served as a prosecutor of narcotics, agricultural, and major crimes. During his 16 year tenure as a Deputy District Attorney, Michael conducted 78 jury trials with a successful conviction rate of 89%.

Michael is an active volunteer supporting youth through community organizations and his church. He is a merit badge counselor and former Assistant Scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts of America, serves as a judge for Moot Court and academic decathlon competitions, and is a member of Kiwanis International.
