The New American Legal Clinic (NALC) is excited to announce two summer fellowship opportunities offered by the California State Bar. The fellowship’s purpose is to increase capacity at NALC, expose students to legal aid work, and prepare students for the practice of law.

The fellow will focus on complex naturalizations for clients who have prior encounters with law enforcement or complicated immigration history. The fellow will also work on family-based petitions, cases involving unaccompanied minors, and humanitarian forms of relief such as U Visa, T Visa, or VAWA applications.

The application is open to students enrolled at SJCL during the summer of 2026. The fellowship will run from May 19, 2026 – August 7, 2026. The fellow will work approximately 28 hours per week, earned in an equivalent wage for a total of $7,500 over the course of the fellowship. The SJCL student must be able to complete the fellowship within the dates above.

Fluency in another language is preferred.
