San Joaquin College of Law is seeking a dedicated and skilled Maintenance Associate to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and maintenance of our building and facilities, providing a safe and welcoming environment for residents and visitors. This role involves a variety of tasks, including custodial duties, floor care, and general facilities maintenance.

Duties

  • Must be able to regularly work 5:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday – Friday. Occasionally (2-4 times annually) flexibility in the scheduled will be required to accommodate the set-up of college events which may include nights and weekends
  • Perform custodial tasks to maintain cleanliness multiple areas: classrooms, hallways, kitchens and restrooms.
  • Perform general cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and vacuuming floors and surfaces.
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms, including toilets, sinks, and fixtures, ensuring they are stocked with necessary supplies.
  • Empty and dispose of trash and recycling bins, following proper waste management procedures.
  • Ensure common areas, such as hallways and reception areas, are always clean and presentable.
  • Clean windows, mirrors, and glass surfaces to maintain a polished appearance.
  • Set up classrooms which requires relocation of chairs and tables; and event spaces as needed.
  • Inspects the building and grounds regularly to identify, report, and correct maintenance or any health, safety or issues accordingly.
  • Performing general upkeep of the facility's exterior and parking lots.
  • Assist with small repair projects such as painting, and carpentry.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and perform necessary repairs or adjustments.
  • Ensure all cleaning supplies and equipment are properly maintained and stored.
  • Regularly uses small hand and power tools, vacuum, floor polisher, carpet shampooer, ladders, pressure washer and leaf blower.

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of custodial practices and procedures.
  • Experience in facilities maintenance with a focus on cleanliness and safety.
  • Familiarity with floor care equipment and techniques, including buffing machines.
  • Ability to perform industrial cleaning tasks effectively.
  • Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Provide excellent and timely customer service.

Physical:
Physical stamina and the ability to perform repetitive tasks which includes pushing and controlling cleaning equipment, crawling, climbing ladders, and operating a variety of power tools, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Working Conditions:
Primarily works inside a heated/air-conditioned building. A small amount of time is spent each day outside maintaining the area around the building.

Hourly Pay Range: 
Level I- $17.00-$21.00
Level II- $21.00- $25.00
