SJCL now has the ability to notify you, via text message, of an emergency.

Please Note: You are responsible for any messaging charges from your wireless service provider. SJCL is not responsible for any charges your service provider may charge for standard text message fees and/or roaming fees.

A test message will be sent annually to ensure the SJCL system is working properly containing the following information:

"This is a test of the SJCL Emergency Alert messaging system. In the unlikely event of an emergency such as, an active shooter occurring on the campus, the Emergency Alert System will be utilized in addition to other resources to alert the campus community and provide basic instructions on what to do. The Emergency Alert will not be used when a situation has occurred that poses no further threat to the campus community. SJCL will use other methods of communication to inform the campus of these occurrences."

The alert is sent to the cell number you have on file. To update your cell phone, please follow these instructions:

  1. Log in to the Student Portal

  2. Click on Bio

  3. Then click on Update Bio

  4. Then enter your Cell Phone number with area code and the provider you have cell service with. This also would be a good time to verify that your information is correct and make any changes if it is not. Select the Text Me Flag and click submit.
