The Maintenance Assistant plays a critical role in cleaning and maintaining our college facility, including offices, classrooms, restroom facilities and kitchens to the highest level of cleanliness. The candidate must have knowledge of safe protocols and disposal of chemical liquids. The Maintenance Assistant is an important part of the Facilities Team contributing to the college’s personnel and students’ safety and satisfaction.
Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent, Minimum of one year, ideally two-three years proven experience in janitorial or maintenance services. Must be able to speak English fluently
Job Requirements
- Must be able to regularly work 5:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday – Friday. Occasionally (2-4 times annually) flexibility will be required to accommodate the set-up of college events which may include nights and weekends.
- Perform general cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and vacuuming floors and surfaces.
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, including toilets, sinks, and fixtures, ensuring they are stocked with necessary supplies.
- Empty and dispose of trash and recycling bins, following proper waste management procedures.
- Ensure common areas, such as hallways and reception areas, are always clean and presentable.
- Clean windows, mirrors, and glass surfaces to maintain a polished appearance.
- Set up classrooms which requires relocation of chairs and tables; and event spaces as needed.
- Inspects the building and grounds regularly to identify, report, and correct maintenance or any health, safety or issues accordingly.
- Performing general upkeep of the facility's exterior and parking lots.
- Assist with small repair projects such as painting, and carpentry.
- Excellent time management skills to prioritize tasks and complete them in a timely manner.
- Ability to work independently and follow instructions effectively and respond constructively to changing situations.
- Must display attention to detail and conscientiousness.
- Able to create good working relationships with a variety of staff and student population.
Working Conditions:
Primarily works inside a heated/air-conditioned building. A small amount of time is spent each day outside maintaining the area around the building.
Physical stamina and the ability to perform repetitive tasks which includes pushing and controlling cleaning equipment, crawling, climbing ladders, and operating a variety of power tools, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Hourly Pay Range:
Level 1- $17.00-$21.00
Level 11- $21.00- $25.00
